EXPERIENCE
This opportunity presents relevant, hands-on professional experience. You will have the chance to teach up to 32 lessons throughout the two weeks, as well as develop communication skills with a wide-variety of 6th grade students and other professionals.
REFERENCES
The camp directors are three teachers for the Shaker Heights School District who can provide valuable references for the A-Team members. The references will be based on your ability to be a positive and enthusiastic role model and teacher.
NETWORK
During your time at camp, you will work with 16 classroom teachers, including physical education teachers, behavioral aids, and the school nurse. This is an excellent opportunity to make professional connections that can help with future employment opportunities.
CHANGE LIVES
A-Team members can be role models for the students, some of whom have never had a camp experience. By spending time with the students and listening to them, A-Teamers can be supportive and help instill confidence and a positive attitude as the young people anticipate their middle school experience.
CONNECT
The A-Team consists of 24 college and university students from schools all around the country. Every year, during pre-camp and the two weeks students are attending, the A-Team members form special and long-lasting bonds based on their shared experiences and often remain friends for years after camp is finished.
EARN
Each A-Team member is paid for the two weeks of time worked at 6th Grade Camp. You will also be given a coveted A-Team t-shirt and have the chance to win prizes through our famous Paw Point drawings!
